Send items and fire courses
Send fires the unsent items on a check to the kitchen printers or Kitchen Displays. When you use courses, the Send button relabels to fire a specific course (for example “Fire Course 2”) so appetizers and entrées reach the line at the right time.
Before you start
- Kitchen routing is set up so items land on the right printer or KDS (see “Route items to Kitchen Displays”).
- Decide whether you're coursing the meal.
Steps
- Build the check — Add items; unsent items are highlighted until you Send.
- Tap Send — Unsent items fire to the kitchen. Sent items stay on the check.
- Fire a later course — When items are course-tagged, Send relabels to fire that course on demand.
- Avoid double sends — The Send button disables briefly while sending so a double tap can't fire twice.
Common mistakes
- Tapping Send twice fast — the guard prevents a duplicate, but wait for the confirmation.
- Coursing items but firing them all at once, defeating the point of courses.
Troubleshooting
Items didn't print or appear on the KDS.
Check kitchen routing and that the printer/KDS is online; unrouted food still shows on every KDS.
Send is disabled.
There are no unsent items — everything is already fired.
When to contact support
- Sends succeed on the POS but never reach a healthy kitchen printer or KDS.
