Ring up a sale on the POS

Ringing a sale is the everyday POS loop: sign in with your staff PIN, add items from the catalog or by scanning, review the cart on the right, then tap Charge to take payment. The catalog is on the left and the current order (the cart) is on the right, so you can watch the total build as you go.

Before you start

  • Sign in on the station with your own staff PIN so the sale is attributed to you.
  • Confirm the correct order mode for your business — retail, quick service, or table service.

Steps

  1. Add itemsTap catalog buttons, search by name, or scan a barcode. Each tap adds a line to the cart.
  2. Adjust quantitiesTap a cart line to change quantity, add a note, or remove it.
  3. Apply any modifiersMenu items with required modifier groups prompt for choices before they land in the cart.
  4. Review the totalThe cart footer shows subtotal, tax, and total. Confirm it matches what the guest is buying.
  5. Tap ChargeCharge opens the payment screen for card, cash, gift card, or house account.
  6. Finish the receiptPrint or send the receipt, then the station returns to an empty cart for the next sale.

Common mistakes

  • Sharing one PIN across the floor, which makes sales attribution and tips meaningless.
  • Adding an item twice by tapping a slow-scanning barcode again instead of waiting for the beep.

Troubleshooting

A product isn't in the catalog.

Add it in the back office under Products, or ring a one-off with Custom item (permission permitting), then add the real product later.

Charge is greyed out.

The cart is empty, or the order is a reopened paid ticket that now owes a refund — see “Reopen a paid order and issue a refund”.
