Provision a customer display
A customer-facing display (CFD) is a second screen turned toward the guest that mirrors the current sale, then collects the tip and signature at payment. You provision it much like a register: open the display's provisioning screen, enter a pairing code, and pair it to a POS station at the same location.
Before you start
- Create a Customer Display station in the back office under Devices & Hardware.
- Put the display device on the same network as the register.
- Have the register handy — the pairing code is generated there or from Devices & Hardware.
Steps
- Open the display provisioning screen — On the display device, open the customer display provisioning page. It shows “Provision this display”.
- Get a pairing code — On the POS register, open Settings → Displays and show the pair code, or mint one from Devices & Hardware.
- Enter the code and tap Pair — Type the pairing code on the display and pair it to the station.
- Confirm the connection — The display shows it's connected to the register (for example, “Connected to Register 1”).
- Test with a sale — Ring items on the register and confirm they appear on the display as you add them.
Common mistakes
- Pairing with a POS station code instead of a Customer Display station.
- Putting the display on guest Wi-Fi that isolates devices, so it never connects to the register.
Troubleshooting
The display shows “Waiting for POS station assignment”.
Finish pairing from the register, and confirm both are at the same location and on the same network.
The pairing code is rejected.
Codes are short-lived and uppercase; generate a fresh one and enter it promptly.
When to contact support
