The customer display during a sale

During a sale the customer display mirrors the order live — subtotal, tax, and total — so guests can follow along. At payment it can prompt for a tip, show a cash-discount (dual pricing) breakdown where enabled, and capture a signature. When the sale is paid it shows a clear confirmation.

Before you start

  • The display is paired to the register (see “Provision a customer display”).
  • Tips and dual pricing appear only when enabled for your location.

Steps

  1. Ring the saleAs items are added, the display updates Subtotal, Tax, and Total.
  2. Guest reviews the totalThe order total is shown large so guests can confirm before paying.
  3. Tip promptWhen tips are enabled, the guest picks a preset or enters an amount.
  4. Cash discount lineWhere dual pricing is on, the display shows the Cash Discount line so the guest sees the breakdown.
  5. Signature and thank-youThe guest signs on screen if prompted; a paid sale shows a Thank you confirmation.

Common mistakes

  • Turning the display away from the guest, defeating its purpose.
  • Expecting tip or signature prompts when those features aren't enabled for the location.

Troubleshooting

The display doesn't update during a sale.

Confirm it's connected to the register, refresh it, and check its network connection.

No tip prompt appears.

Tips must be enabled for the location under Tip Rules; confirm the feature is on.
