Print labels after receiving
Retailers that label stock can print labels straight from receiving: after you receive a PO, Pedestal offers to queue label print jobs for the received items, sized by what came in. Labels print on your configured label printer using your label template.
Before you start
- A label printer is set up in Settings → Devices & Hardware (see “Connect a Zebra label printer”).
- A label template exists under Operations → Location Setup → Label Management.
Steps
- Receive the PO as usual — See “Receive a purchase order”.
- Accept the label print prompt — After receiving, the prompt lists received items and quantities to label.
- Send the jobs to the printer — Jobs go to your label printer; the station or print bridge on the same network delivers them.
- Spot-check the output — Verify the first few labels' price and barcode before labeling the batch.
Common mistakes
- Labeling stock before checking that prices in Pedestal are current — reprints cost time.
- Dismissing the prompt, then hand-picking items for labels one at a time later.
Troubleshooting
The label prompt never appeared.
Confirm a label printer and template are configured for the location, then check the label queue for pending jobs.
Jobs queue but nothing prints.
That's a printer-delivery problem — see “Reprint failed labels” and “Printer troubleshooting”.
