Pair a customer-facing display
A customer-facing display (CFD) is a separate device — usually a small tablet facing the customer — that mirrors the current sale from a register. In Pedestal, a CFD is its own station of type Customer Display, provisioned much like a POS station.
Before you start
- Have the POS station it will pair with already working.
- Connect the display device to the same network as the register.
Steps
- Create a Customer Display station — In Settings → Devices & Hardware, create a station and choose the Customer Display type.
- Provision the display device — On the display tablet, open the display provisioning page and enter its code or install link, just like a POS station.
- Install it to the home screen — Same as a register: Safari Share → Add to Home Screen on iPad, Chrome → Install app on Android.
- Test with a sale — Ring items on the register and confirm they appear on the display as you add them.
Common mistakes
- Provisioning the display with a POS station code instead of a Customer Display station.
- Putting the display on guest Wi-Fi that isolates devices from each other.
Troubleshooting
The display shows nothing during a sale.
Confirm the display station belongs to the same location, refresh the display, and check the device's network connection.
