Host stand: waitlist and reservations
The Host stand tracks the waitlist and reservations for the floor. Add walk-ins to the waitlist with a party size, seat them to an available table when it opens, and record reservations so the floor is planned ahead of a busy service.
Before you start
- The location is in table service mode with a floor map.
- Know the party size and, for reservations, the time and name.
Steps
- Open Host stand — Switch between Waitlist and Reservations tabs.
- Add a waitlist party — Enter the name and party size; the count of waiting parties shows on the tab.
- Add a reservation — Record the name, party size, and time under Reservations.
- Seat a party — When a table frees up, seat the waiting or reserved party to it.
- Update status — Mark parties seated, no-show, or cancelled to keep the list clean.
Common mistakes
- Never updating waitlist status, so the list fills with stale parties.
- Seating a reserved party to an occupied table.
Troubleshooting
Available tables don't appear when seating.
Only tables without a valid active order are available; clear ghost occupancy by refreshing the map.
