Transfer a table or server
Transfers keep the floor accurate as shifts change and guests move. You can reassign a table's check to another server (for a shift handoff) or move a party to a different table. Reassigning the server is permission-gated so sales and tips follow the right person.
Before you start
- Reassigning a server requires the “Transfer tables” permission.
- Confirm which server or table the check should move to.
Steps
- Open the table — Select the occupied table on the map.
- Choose Transfer server — Pick the new server; the open check and its future sales follow them.
- Or move the party to a new table — Transfer the check to a different available table when guests relocate.
- Confirm the change — The map updates to show the check on its new table or server.
Common mistakes
- Leaving a check on a departed server's name at shift change, skewing tips and sales.
- Transferring to an occupied table instead of an available one.
Troubleshooting
Transfer server is blocked.
Your role lacks the “Transfer tables” permission; a manager can grant it or perform the transfer.
The check didn't follow the transfer.
Refresh the map; if the check still shows on the old table, contact support.
When to contact support
- Transfers succeed on screen but reports still credit the old server.
