Daily opening checklist
A short opening routine keeps the day running smoothly: wake the registers, confirm they're online, count in cash drawers, and make sure payment terminals and printers are responsive. Running this before you unlock the door catches problems while there's still time to fix them.
Before you start
- Know each register's opening float amount.
- Staff have their PINs and know their opening tasks.
Steps
- Wake and check each station — Open the installed app and confirm the station is online and shows the current catalog.
- Count in the drawer — Open the cash drawer session with the counted opening float so over/short is meaningful later.
- Wake payment terminals — Confirm each Dejavoo terminal is powered on, on the network, and responsive.
- Test a printer — Print a test receipt (and, for restaurants, confirm the kitchen printer or KDS is up).
- Open online ordering if you use it — Enable online ordering when you open so pickup orders can come in.
Common mistakes
- Skipping the drawer count-in, which makes end-of-day over/short impossible to reconcile.
- Leaving online ordering off after opening, so pickup orders never arrive.
Troubleshooting
A station is offline.
Check its network first — the POS is cloud-hosted and needs a connection (see “Basic device troubleshooting”).
A terminal is unresponsive.
Restart it and confirm network, then retry a small test (see “What to do if a terminal is offline”).
When to contact support
