Connect a kitchen printer

A kitchen printer receives order tickets when staff send items to the kitchen. Setup is like a receipt printer — network printer, known IP, added in Devices & Hardware with the Kitchen subtype — plus one extra step: routing menu items to it so the right items print at the right place.

Before you start

  • The printer is on the same network as your stations with a stable IP.
  • Impact printers (like the Epson U220) are the usual pick for hot kitchens; thermal is fine elsewhere.

Steps

  1. Add the printer in Settings → Devices & HardwareSubtype Kitchen, model, Connection Network, and the printer's IP. Kitchen printers are configured per location.
  2. Route items to itAssign menu items or their categories to the kitchen printer under Products, so food prints in the kitchen and bar drinks print at the bar.
  3. Send a test orderRing a routed item on a station and send it to the kitchen.
  4. Verify the ticketItem names and modifiers should read the way the kitchen needs them.

Common mistakes

  • Adding the printer but routing no items to it — tickets go nowhere silently.
  • Forgetting to route new menu items when the menu changes.

Troubleshooting

Some items print, others don't.

The missing items aren't routed. Check their printer assignment under Products.

Nothing prints at all.

Treat it as a receipt-printer problem first: network, IP, and station on the same Wi-Fi. See “Printer troubleshooting”.
