Transfer warehouse stock to sales floor
When you restock shelves from the back room, record a transfer: warehouse count goes down, sales floor count goes up, total stays the same. That keeps “what can we sell right now” accurate — which matters for anything that checks sales-floor availability.
Before you start
- Know what you physically moved — record transfers as you restock, not from memory at close.
Steps
- Open Inventory → Transfer stock
- Select the product and quantity moved
- Set the direction — Warehouse → sales floor when restocking shelves; the reverse when pulling stock back.
- Confirm — Both pool counts update instantly.
Common mistakes
- Restocking shelves all day and recording nothing, so the floor count is fiction by closing.
- Using a receive to move stock (which double-counts it) instead of a transfer.
Troubleshooting
Sales floor shows zero but the shelf is full.
The restock was never recorded as a transfer. Record it now for the quantity on the shelf.
