Sell a gift card

Selling a gift card means issuing a card with a balance (or reloading an existing card) and taking payment for that amount. The card's value is tracked in Pedestal, so any station can redeem it later.

Before you start

The Gift Cards module is enabled.
Physical cards: have the card in hand to record its number.

Steps

Open the Gift Cards page — From the Settings hub, open Gift Cards.
Issue a new card — Enter the card number (or use the generated one) and the amount the customer is buying.
Take payment — Collect the purchase like any sale — cash or card.
Optionally link a customer — Attaching the buyer's customer profile makes lost-card lookups possible.
Reload instead of re-issue — If the customer already has a card, add value to it rather than issuing a second card.

Common mistakes

Issuing the card but forgetting to collect payment for it.
Not recording the physical card number accurately — scan or double-check it.

Troubleshooting

The card number is rejected as already in use.

Look the card up first — it may already be issued. Reload it instead of issuing.

When to contact support

You sold a card for the wrong amount and can't correct it with a reload or void.
