Install Pedestal POS on Android tablet

On Android tablets, Pedestal POS installs from Chrome as an app. Like iPad, install from your station's own install link so the icon opens directly to that register's PIN screen.

Before you start

Create the POS station first so you have its install link or activation code.
Connect the tablet to the same Wi-Fi network your printers use.
Use Chrome for the install.

Steps

Open the station install link in Chrome
Open the browser menu → Install app — Chrome may also show an install prompt automatically — either works.
Open the installed app from the home screen — It should open full-screen to the staff PIN screen.
Sign in with a staff PIN and ring a test item — Confirm the catalog loads with the side-by-side tablet layout.

Common mistakes

Bookmarking the page instead of installing the app — printing and full-screen behavior need the installed app.
Installing from the generic /pos page instead of the station link.
Aggressive battery optimization putting the app to sleep — exempt the POS app in Android battery settings on a register that must stay awake.

Troubleshooting

There's no Install app option in the menu.

Make sure you're in Chrome (not a vendor browser) and on the station link, then reload the page.

The app opens to the wrong screen.

Uninstall the app and reinstall from the correct station install link.

When to contact support

The tablet installs correctly but the station won't activate.
