How customers earn rewards
Points accrue when a sale is attached to a customer profile. The customer earns your configured points-per-dollar on what they spend; sales rung without a customer attached earn nothing. So the habit that makes loyalty work is simple: attach the customer to every sale.
Before you start
- Loyalty is enabled with your rates configured.
- Staff know how to look up and create customers at the POS.
Steps
- Attach the customer to the sale — Look them up by name or phone at the register, or create a new profile on the spot.
- Complete the sale normally — Points accrue automatically based on the amount spent.
- Tell the customer their balance — Their running points balance lives on their customer profile.
Common mistakes
- Attaching the customer after payment — build the habit of attaching them before taking payment.
- Creating duplicate customer profiles, splitting one person's points across two records.
Troubleshooting
A customer says points are missing.
Check whether the sale had their profile attached. If it didn't, that's why — decide your policy for manual goodwill adjustments.
Two profiles exist for one customer.
Standardize on phone-number lookup to avoid duplicates going forward.
