Add and manage customers

Customer profiles let you tie sales to a person for order history, loyalty, and house-account billing. You can add a customer in the back office or on the fly at the register by searching name, phone, or email. Attaching a customer to a sale keeps their purchase history and any loyalty accrual in one place.

Before you start

  • Decide what identifies your customers — name, phone, or email.
  • For loyalty, the program is enabled under Business → Loyalty.

Steps

  1. Open Customers in the back officeReview existing customers and add new ones.
  2. Create a customerEnter name and contact details; these become searchable at the POS.
  3. Attach a customer at the registerSearch by name, phone, or email during a sale to link the order to them.
  4. Review their historySee a customer's past orders and, where enabled, loyalty balance.

Common mistakes

  • Creating duplicate customers because a search wasn't run first — search before adding.
  • Collecting contact info without a clear reason; only capture what you'll use.

Troubleshooting

A customer can't be found at the POS.

Confirm they exist in Customers and try phone or email instead of name.

Loyalty didn't accrue.

The customer must be attached to the sale and loyalty must be enabled — see the Loyalty guides.
