Set business hours

Pedestal's POS is always available to staff — it doesn't lock based on opening hours. Today, hours mainly matter for online ordering: the pickup storefront offers pickup times starting after your prep buffer, and it's up to you to turn online ordering off when you're closed. A full posted-hours schedule is not yet a self-serve setting.

Before you start

  • Decide your realistic prep time for pickup orders.
  • Know who on your team will open and close online ordering each day if your hours vary.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Online OrderingThis page controls whether your public pickup storefront accepts orders.
  2. Enable ordering when you openCheck “Enable online ordering” and save. Customers can now place pickup orders.
  3. Disable ordering when you closeUncheck it and save at close so orders can't come in overnight.
  4. Keep your printed and posted hours accurateReceipt footer text (Operations → Location Setup) is a good place to print your hours for customers.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving online ordering enabled overnight and finding unacknowledged orders in the morning.
  • Assuming the POS will stop staff from selling outside business hours — it won't; it's always on.

Troubleshooting

Customers see pickup times you can't honor.

Pickup slots are offered after a prep buffer. If the buffer doesn't match your kitchen's reality, contact support to adjust it.
