Damage inventory

When stock becomes unsellable — dropped, expired, recalled — record it as damage. The count goes down with a reason attached, so shrinkage shows up in reporting instead of silently disappearing at your next count.

Before you start

  • Have the damaged items in front of you so quantities are exact.

Steps

  1. Open Inventory → Record damage
  2. Select the product and quantity damaged
  3. Note the reasonExpired, broken, recalled — the reason is what makes shrinkage reporting useful.
  4. ConfirmThe count drops immediately from the pool the stock was in.

Common mistakes

  • Tossing damaged goods without recording them, then "fixing" the count by hand later.
  • Recording damage against the wrong pool (warehouse vs. sales floor).

Troubleshooting

Damage was recorded for the wrong product or quantity.

Record a correcting receive for the over-damaged amount and note why, so the trail stays readable.
