Add your first product
Products are the heart of your catalog. Once a product is created and marked sellable, it appears on every POS station automatically — there's nothing to sync by hand.
Before you start
- Have your price list handy, and SKUs/barcodes if you use them.
- Create at least one category first so the product has a home (see the categories article).
Steps
- Open Products in the left navigation
- Click New Product — Enter the name your staff and customers should see.
- Set the price — You can also record cost for margin reporting.
- Pick a category (and subcategory) — This controls where the item appears when browsing the POS catalog.
- Add identifiers if you scan — Enter the barcode/SKU so the item rings up with a scanner.
- Check visibility — Leave the product active and visible on POS. Turn on online visibility only if it should appear on your online ordering menu.
- Save and test — Open the POS and confirm the product appears and rings at the right price.
Common mistakes
- Creating products without categories, leaving the POS catalog as one giant unsorted list.
- Typos in barcodes — scan the real product to verify instead of typing from memory.
- Marking wholesale-only or ingredient items sellable so they show up at the register.
Troubleshooting
The product doesn't appear on the POS.
Confirm it's active, sellable, and visible on POS. Then refresh the station page.
Scanning the barcode does nothing.
Check the barcode saved on the product matches the physical label, and test the scanner in a text field to confirm it types.
When to contact support
- You need a large catalog imported — ask about bulk import instead of typing hundreds of items.
